A second-half turn around from Indonesia saw them earn all three points and a spot in the semi-finals coupled with Philippines’ defeat to Thailand.
The Lions have only themselves to blame for the result. Khairul Amri gave them the lead in the 27th minute, but it was also him who missed a superb opportunity to put them ahead by two goals after the restart.
Singapore would go on to pay for it, after slack marking allowed Andik Vermansyah to level matters.
Poor defending five minutes from time saw Singapore pay the price eventually, with Stephano Lilipaly lashing in Boaz Salossa’s cross to clinch all three points, along with the second spot in Group A.
27’ (1-0) A long throw from Madhu Mohana is flicked on by Safuwan Baharudin for Khairul Amri, who smashes it into the roof of the net with a scissors kick.
62’ (1-1) Slack marking from the Lions allows Andik to run in and slot in Rizky Pora’s cross to level matters.
85’ (1-2) Boaz is not stopped down the left side and both Bennett and Hariss fail to cut out his cross, allowing Lilipaly to volley it into the top corner.
Great save from Hassan –
Stephano Lilipaly curled the ball over the wall towards goal from the free-kick, but Hassan read it well and pushed it onto the woodwork before Boaz Salossa sent the rebound over.
Singapore’s first chance –
Yasir Hanapi aimed a cross towards Faris Ramli at the far post, but his volley in the seventh minute goes over.
Lilipaly again –
Indonesia’s early onslaught continued and this time midfielder Lilipaly shot straight at Hassan after eight minutes.
Good build up from Lions –
Khairul Amri and Safuwan Baharudin exchanged passes before the latter released Yasir Hanapi, who sliced his shot narrowly wide.
Indonesia comes close again –
Andik Vermansyah is not closed down in time and his powerful effort from range flew just over Hassan’s goal.
Wasteful from Dimas –
A rare Singapore lapse at the back saw Evan Dimas getting a shooting opportunity, but the midfielder couldn’t find the target.
Hassan saves Singapore again –
From the restart, Indonesia attack and Boaz Salossa is played in behind, only to be foiled by the superb Hassan who came out quickly to block the shot.
Another Hassan stop –
Lilipaly tested Hassan with a free-kick and the goalkeeper reacted fast to prevent it from going in in the 30th minute.
Sitter from Amri –
Faris Ramli does superbly to play in Khairul Amri, in the 47th minute, but the goalscorer shot straight at the goalkeeper instead.
Singapore almost –
Poor marking from Indonesia gave Hariss Harun a free header at goal, but Kurnia Meiga did superbly to tip it over.
Hassan denies Boaz twice –
Boaz Salossa met Rizky’s cross and his initial shot was pushed out by Hassan. He reacted first to the rebound, but this time his header was well held by the Singapore custodian.
Madhu heads over –
Amri floats in a sweet delivery in the 72nd minute and Madhu rose highest to meet it, but can’t keep it down.
Zulham can’t capitalise –
Boaz slipped substitute Zulham through and with just Hassan to beat, the winger fired straight at the Singapore goalkeeper in the 79th minute.
Poor miss from Safuwan –
A good cross from Amri sees Safuwan with a good chance at the far post, but the midfielder headed it over instead. Barely a minute later, he is played through on goal, but can’t reach the ball before Indonesia keeper Meiga gets a hand to it.
