Terrific Teerasil leads the way
There have been 14 goals scored over the weekend after an exciting first round of matches in the 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup, as fans around Southeast Asia were treated to an exciting football spectacle in both Manila and Yangon.
Thailand's lethal Teerasil Dangda bagged a hat-trick against Indonesia on Saturday as the Garuda defence struggled to come to grips with the striker in a 4-2 loss.
The two-time AFF Suzuki Cup top scorer now has 12 goals in four tournaments (having missed out on the 2014 edition), putting him joint-sixth in the all-time list alongside two legendary figures in Bambang Pamungkas and Kiatisuk Senamuang.
This is also his fifth goal in two games, after scoring a brace against Australia in their recent World Cup qualifier.
Following closely behind the Thai captain are the pair of Chan Vathanaka and Amri Yahyah.
The Cambodian midfielder and the Malaysian forward both scored braces in the same match, as Harimau Malaysia came from behind twice to secure a 3-2 win.
Seven other players also netted on Matchdays 1 and 2, with Vietnam's talismanic Le Cong Vinh now just three goals away from matching Noh Alam Shah's record tally.
The 30-year-old Golden Stars captain is now in joint-third place overall alongside compatriot Le Hyunh Duc with 14 goals.
