Malaysia won 3-2 against Cambodia during their 2016 AFF Suzuki Cup Group B opener at Thuwanna Stadium in Myanmar on Sunday afternoon.

Chan Vathanaka delighted Cambodian fans after beating the offside trap and slotting home after only seven minutes but Syazwan Zainon restored parity for Malaysia in the 37th minute.

Cambodia responded in the best way possible in the 59th minute, as Chan Vathanaka restored their one-goal advantage with his second goal of the afternoon. However, their lead lasted only another 10 minutes, as Amri Yahyah finished from point blank range to pull Malaysia back into the game once more.

The Malaysian captain then turned the game on its head by making a great run into the box sidefooting past Son Yaty, as Harimau Malaysia took the lead for the first time all afternoon.

Malaysia draw level once again thanks to captain Amri Yahyah, as he fires home from close range after a clever cut-back from Ahmad Hazwan Bakri.

A sumptious chipped pass from Keo Sokpheng falls perfectly for Chan Vathanaka and the midfielder beats Khairul Fahmi with ease for his second goal.

Syazwan Zainon brings a high ball down on the left flank, then cuts in past his marker with a nifty turn and beats a diving Sou Yaty with a bouncing shot that nestles into the far corner of the net.

Midfielder Chan Vathanaka strikes with only seven minutes on the clock, sprinting clear of Malaysian defenders who are appealing for offside before beating goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi and slotting into an empty net.
