Winger Aiboy shines as Indonesia draw with Vietnam
16-Sep-2012

Vietnam, coming off a 2-0 victory over AFF Suzuki Cup reigning champions Malaysia, held 2010 finalists Indonesia to a 0-0 draw in Surabaya on Saturday.
Indonesia coach Nil Maizar made a string of changes from the side that lost 2-0 to DPR Korea last week while Vietnam were without star striker Le Cong Vinh, who scored against Malaysia.
Striker Samsul Arif came closest to breaking the deadlock for Indonesia on two occasions and both times the creator was evergreen winger Elie Aiboy, a constant threat with his speed and trickery down the right flank.
Arif headed a cross from Aiboy over the top in the 43rd minute and then saw his rasping left foot shot miss the target by inches seven minutes after half time.
Vietnam looked dangerous on the break and Pham Thanh Luong should have done better in the 62ndminute after a surging run from midfield. He turned a defender brilliantly but his effort shaved the post.
Substitute Nguyen Trong Hoang could have sealed the win for Vietnam in the 85th minute after another quick counter-attack from the visitors, however he dragged his shot past the upright.
The two teams will meet again on September 22 in Hanoi.
Indonesia face Malaysia, Singapore and the second-placed team from the qualifying tournament in the AFF Suzuki Cup in November while Vietnam take on three-time winners Thailand, the Philippines and the leading qualifier.
